Of course, not all Brazilian men are that forward, especially not if they are living abroad and know that the speed of getting to the first kiss is a bit slower, but expect that a Brazilian man who is interested in you will try to make out with you sooner rather than later.Brazilian men will compliment you like there’s no tomorrow – anything they see that they like about you, they will tell you about.Men might play soccer with their buddies in the afternoon, women might have a coffee and go shoppping with their female friends but they do not go out at night and leave their partner alone at home.
3) When it comes to engagement and weddings, Brazilian women are used to do things differently. We do not have that tradition (see my post about engagement rings). The first bride to wear an engagement ring as a sign of love and lasting union was Mary of Burgundy, who was gifted a diamond ring by her husband, the Archduke Maximilian of Austria, in 1477. From couples dating to weddings, there is a complex – and sometimes confusing – etiquette when it comes to what kind of ring to wear, what it will be made of and in what finger you should wear it on.Remember that these are only what is most commonly done, and not necessarily a rule. But as I turned my gaze to the man that stood beside, I was surprised to see wearing a t-shirt, jeans and a pair of sneakers. First off, because usually this type of fashion show was reserved for a night out at the club, and not the corner bar where you meet cheap beers before heading home. But secondly, it was the fact that the men looked strangely raggedy and disheveled next to their dates.
